With some real investment into Vancouver Island Rapid Transit, we would have cyclists, hikers, walkers, and sight seers from all walks of life
from all over the world come! Even more than the 5 Million we get now!
That would supercharge our economy!
How would we make the Trestles wider to accommodate a rail-trail?
It's called a
Cantilever Sidewalk System (creativecompositesgroup.com)
They will be modern fast trains, but they will travel at safe speeds at the beginning so the conductor can respond to safety issues.
As we realize the value of a faster line, we could speed them up with investment in fencing,
High Speed Railway Ecological Overpasses, and overhead wires that detect anything falling on the track and of course electrify it using catenary equipped battery electric trains ?
Yes everyone is aware there are awkward crossings,
but we can
go over
go around
go through
or make them safer!
and more accessible, like adding a ramp!
Does travelling up and down the
Vancouver Island Rail Corridor
with the
Mt. Baker backed Juan-de-Fuca Strait,
and the
Rocky Mountain backed Strait of Georgia
sound wonderful?
Mountains
Waterfalls
Valleys
Trestle views
a spectrum of Cultures!
Plenty of Experiences!
Lots of unique shopping!
timed with BC Transit to Universities, Airports, Ferries, and Business Hours
All operated by Vancouver Islanders!
Minimal unplanned service means it doesn't fit anyone's life!
Once trains are bought, they are bought!
Is there ridership to cover running costs and maintenance?
YES!
I feel that 3 trains would be best!
How about
one going back and forth between Victoria and Langford Hub
One leaving south from Courtenay to Langford hub
timed to arrive in Nanaimo
leaving with enough time to reach
Langford Hub and Victoria connections
to business hours.
Another leaving Langford to Courtenay
after the Victoria-Langford run reaches the Langford hub
reaching Nanaimo connections
to business hours.
I've learned so much about how other railway lines were restored in the past from people with a lot more experience in rail
than me!
I've heard of adopt a highway, but never
Adopt a Railway Tie!
This has been used very successfully to enhance railway line restorations
Advertising Sponsorship wraps on the trains?
Its been done before, even in Canada!
CRD endorsed the need to keep it,
and are looking into this!
We just have to show support to topple the remaining road blocks
WE CAN DO THIS!
The economy is like an engine, and
OURS JUST NEEDS A TUNE-UP!
A working right of way passage Train
could transform many sectors of the Vancouver island economy!
Cowichan Wine industry,
Show and Shine attendance,
festivals, holidays, concerts, fairs, business openings, shopping...
You name it!
Distributed capacity
for hotel and visitor services relieves organizers of the limits imposed by any one location on Vancouver Island!
Great for business!
And it gives nervous, anxious, and hesitant tourists and drivers an easy to navigate travel option!
This could be so popular
that it could limit freight capacity on our
"single track with occasional sidings"
Duel Track?
Bypasses?
Future connections?
Utilities?
it's 2022,
and time for
Zac B
This is a very good thing, rail could transform the Cowichan wine industry . We don’t have enough places to stay to become a
major wine tourist hub
Links to hotel rich Victoria will be a game changer!
Thanks Zac!
I'm integrating this thought throughout the pages now starting with Cities!
