Vancouver Islander's face many challenges every day, but balancing vehicle costs and gas prices with distances and rental prices can be some of the toughest decisions people make!
The seemingly exponential cost of living increases are squeezing people out.
Stress like that affects Mental Health!
There are few investments that could truly enrich the lives of every Vancouver Islander
than having
a farther reach to find affordable housing,
less expensive and eco friendly travel options,
Calm Beautiful Natural Views,
which is good for the soul, and
leave some spare change in theirs hands!
for other essentials or a bit of joy.
Increasing reach while reducing or eliminating travel costs using an existing line is just the right thing to do!
Canada's interest rates are rising!
Canada raising rates to provide a safety net or moderate the markets
causes collateral damage!
Home and business owner mortgage payments will go up when they renew!
Hard working Vancouver Islanders that need to finance anything will
have higher monthly payments
or they will not qualify!
How many Vancouver Island Home owners will be forced to sell, or have less money for other essentials?
Some Islanders could lose their homes!
Does having an inexpensive BC transit integrated rapid transit option seem like a good idea?
Carbon Tax should be Pollution tax!
Plastic microbeads in exfoliating products?
tax them!
Plastic Wrapped Consumables?
tax them!
Manufacturing products without capture?
tax them!
But use those funds to provide transition money in the form of grants that move companies towards sustainable, environmentally friendly methods, or to transform their products into more environmentally friendly versions!
Like funding the Vancouver Island Corridor!
If every islander pay's $5 in carbon tax a year
it's a lot more than that!
900,000 x 5$ is
$4.5 Million a year!
Let's put it towards what it's meant for!
With every passing year traffic will get thicker!
Some would rather we expand the Island highway! but when does that stop?
Cost of maintenance? The roads just keep getting get wider.! How many times wider are the easements in photo above?
What' would be the cost of building mass transit solutions in comparison?
Every transportation solution that relies on a single congested highway will be stopped for accidents at an increasing rate!
Getting rail up and running isn't just about the travelling part, its about the parking too!
How much do commuters pay for parking and how much frustration is there with finding a spot!
Will yours be the one damaged, vandalized, or broken into today?
Fewer people needing to park a car would free those spaces for commuters that need them.
$430 Million to keep our existing rail line
or how many $Billions to ever get a secondary route up and down the island in the future?
Even if governments, aboriginal communities, and the people supported that kind of expenditure...what watershed would it go through? what environmental impact would that have?
Let's all be on the right side of history!
We already have this!
