My last fill was $142 from a 1/4 tank!
Save on Transportation costs
Reach less expensive housing
Get that paper finished on the way in, or just rest from that all-nighter!
Keep an eye on your future!
The Futures Future may not be today, but by not saving the Vancouver Island Rail Corridor, the possibilities for island-wide transportation options in the future will evaporate!
Have you seen what is happening with rents in all the major city centre's up and down the island?
The cheapest place I could find was $1200 for a bachelor suite.
1-2 Bedrooms are in the $2300 per month range!
That's someone's entire paycheck!
if you make the minimum
$15.65 per hour, working a 40 hour week!
In areas outside the major cities
Rent is cheaper!
Paying only $200 per month for the rail pass, or paying whatever the
BC Transit plus rail pass might be will
save you $300 or more per month right away!
Having what would then be essentially
Free travel anywhere from Courtenay South
would give you access to
less expensive rent, or a better home!
and easy access to family and friends up and down the island
and easy access to festivals, outdoor concerts, etc!
Will you use your bike instead?
Great! thanks for doing your part for climate change and what a healthy choice!
but you will be limited in range and lose the convenience of free travel provided by your $200 monthly pass!
Bring your bike on the train to your destination! It's in the plan!
You have your eye on that nice ride!
but...
The average ICBC annual car insurance costs $1,832, but that's the minimum with only $200,000 liability coverage if you are in an accident... that is
$153 every month!
but if you are in an accident that injures someone,
is $200,000 enough? Hint, it's not even close to enough!
THAT COULD SET YOU BACK FOR LIFE!
Are you going to buy a car from a lot, or private sale by cash?
If you buy one for cash
You will likely end up with an older car that suffers from regular breakdowns... and without a warranty to fix anything!
If you get a lemon.. because really...
Who sells their car while it's in great shape?
It will cost you to be towed,
it will cost you for repairs, and
all the frustration that goes with it!
If you lease or buy from a Lot
For a $13,900 car, you will be looking at around $160 biweekly.
That's $347 per month!
Total costs are now
$500 every month!
Does a $200 all-island rail pass still sound expensive?
You want to own a place to call your own
and modify it as you see fit! but...
Have you seen what is happening with house prices in all the major city centre's up and down the island?
Saving up to $300 per month
or more on travel and living in less expensive areas leading up to that purchase
will allow you to put that money in Savings!
or, a safe growing
Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) , or a
Tax Free Savings Account (TFSA),
or You could risk other investing strategies!
Set that up as an automatic deduction
So it Grows!
and it GRows!
and it GROWs!
and when life blinks by
and it will...
You will have a DOWN PAYMENT!
